I joined Payen in 2010 after a 10 year role in the payments industry working with large clients on everything from PED interaction, self-service light touch implementations to full payment gateway services. Joining Payen was the perfect opportunity to design and engineer a platform from scratch with the benefit of experience and with change in mind. I wanted to build products and development processes that would fit with the paradigm of providing solutions to clients quickly and that would exceed expectations, and this is what Payen is all about. It’s about a team effort to achieve and produce the best that we can in an agile company with a “can do” attitude to change and creative solutions.
My core skills are in software development, solution architecture and technology decisions – exploring new ways of moving forward. I am a great believer in never standing still and always try to push forward in all areas of technology.
My passion for development can be traced back to my first computer at the age of seven, after which it was clear the career path I would be taking. It started and continues to be because I enjoy seeing something that I have created being used by someone and solving a problem. How that translates to what I do today – what better way to see the result of a creative process than to experience the constant stream of successful purchases making a difference to so many people?
Outside of the office, I keep busy with my two young children and, when they let me, cycling both at home and abroad. Outside the office, I enjoy tennis, squash and badminton with other members of the team.
Following a career in military and civil aviation, I joined a dotcom incubator where I invested in early stage tech businesses.
Payen wants to offer simple and smarter payments all around the world, and I’m enthusiastic about being part of an ambitious team that wants to bring innovation to payments everywhere.
